Tiger, Tiger, Orange and Black: An animal song about a Tiger

(0)
Set in a minor key this slightly scary song conjures up images of tigers prowling swamps and jungles ready to pounce on their prey. The children will love creeping to the music of the verse then the more up beat chorus is about visiting tigers in the zoo where the children are completely safe. Create actions and get the children to compose or improvise accompaniments to the song and you could have a show stopper on your hands. Enjoy!
Building Materials Song

Building Materials Song

(0)
A fun song written for a Year 1 class to add another dimension to their topic on ‘Buildings.’ After learning the song and substituting other number patterns in the chorus as a Maths activity the children selected sound sources to create different building materials and built walls of sound exploring crescendo and diminuendo. Hope you have fun with this song.

Billy Goats' Gruff Celebration Song

A fun song to be performed with sound effects on musical instruments written for a Reception class. Written to conclude the ‘Billy Goats Gruff’ story in Kaye Umansky’s ‘Three Singing Pigs’ book. The song would be a great addition to a topic on Traditional Tales or Animals.
Barmy Roman Army

Barmy Roman Army

(0)
A fun topical song written for a Year 2 class to conclude their assembly on the Romans. The song provides plenty of opportunity to include actions and follow up activities. Why not ask your children to create their own Roman Army Marching Music or using the lyrics to the song as inspiration they could create music for a chariot race and the Roman Baths? Get out the claves and create different rhythmic patterns to accompany your own Roman Rap.The possibilities are endless with this great Primary School Music Resource.

Wrap up Warm It's Winter: A fun song about Winter Clothes

(0)
A humorous song which we can all relate to having been so wrapped up in winter woollies as children that we could hardly move by the time we got outside to play in the snow. The lyrics of the song tell of all the various layers of clothing children have to endure ending with 'our warmest pair of trews' (a Scottish term for trousers)before getting so hot that hats and gloves are soon discarded 'but please don't tell our Mum's Shh!' Why not create a musical composition using the layers of clothing as ways to build up layers of sound? Another great addition to a topic on 'Winter.'

Kung Fu Panda: A song about a Panda's Habitat

(0)
A fun song written for a Year 2 class to link with their topic on 'Habitats'. The children went on to create their own song verses about other endangered animals and we performed our class song in an assembly. Actions really enhance the song log with percussion accompaniment.
'I am a slug!' A Mini Beast Song

'I am a slug!' A Mini Beast Song

(0)
The soft shoe shuffle lament of a poor lonely slug in search of some tender loving care even though he admits 'I eat all the lettuces grown by your Dad' in the lyrics. A short but fun song that children will love. Suitable for use with Play Groups, E.Y.F.S and K.S.1. and a great addition to a topic on Mini Beasts. The children will love not only singing the song but could create their own dance to accompany the idiom of the music and have great fun accompanying the song with instruments.
The Worm Rock'n' Roll: A Mini Beast Song

The Worm Rock'n' Roll: A Mini Beast Song

(0)
A fun but simple Rock 'n' Roll Song with plenty of opportunity for movement and actions telling the story of a worm who lives 'under the ground but loves to move to that rock 'n' roll sound.' Children will have a ball joining in with this song and it's a great addition to a topic on Mini-Beasts.
The Boogie Woogie Petshop: A fun song about Pets

The Boogie Woogie Petshop: A fun song about Pets

(0)
A Boogie Woogie Fun Song that children love. The song tells the story of a visit to a Pet Shop where the children beg their Mum to buy a pet and are disappointed each time she says no however she succumbs in the last verse when she sees a cute little puppy and everyone goes home happy. The song was written for an end of topic assembly on Pets but it is a great addition to topic based music lessons on pets or animals. The song is a great starting point for rhythm work including dance and for creative music.
Blue Bell Boogie Woogie: A Spring Song

Blue Bell Boogie Woogie: A Spring Song

(0)
A delightful Spring song where the simple melody of the verse invokes skipping through a Spring Meadow. The chorus on the other hand will provide hours of fun as the children follow the dance steps in the lyrics. The possibilities for extended activities inspired by this song both musical and non musical are endless. Hope it inspires you and you have a lot of fun!
Jogging Giraffes: A fun animal song.

Jogging Giraffes: A fun animal song.

(0)
A song inspired by my Grandson Harry and his love for his toy giraffe. The song has a lazy swing and relays how having extremely long legs does not make running and walking easy. As I researched this song I found out that when giraffes walk, they move both legs on one side of their body and then both legs on the other side and when they run unlike dogs for example their back legs go outside of their front legs. All fascinating stuff which led to the lyrics in the chorus. Actions would enhance this song greatly and why not get the children to get down on all fours and emulate the walking and running movements of a giraffe themselves. They will love it. Hope you and your children have lots of fun with this simple little song.

Feed the Birds in Winter: A thought provoking song for a Winter Topic

(0)
A sweet song inspired by the joy my grandson has watching the birds out of the window on the feeders during winter and one of my favourite songs of all times 'Feed the Birds' from Mary Poppins. I hope you and your children enjoy this song which could be a prelude to many other activities musical and otherwise whilst you explore 'Winter' as a topic. There's plenty of opportunity for actions and movement in the chorus too.
Sleepy Little Snail: A Mini Beast Song

Sleepy Little Snail: A Mini Beast Song

(0)
A slow, sweet, simple song to help children be aware of different tempos in music whilst learning a few 'snail facts' as they sing. Children could accompany this song with instruments selecting appropriate rhythmic patterns and then create their own snail music.
Pretty Ladybird: A song about a ladybird.

Pretty Ladybird: A song about a ladybird.

(0)
A sweet simple song written for 'Playgroup' children using the tune of the well known nursery rhyme 'Three Blind Mice.' The lyrics have been changed to fit in with a 'Mini Beast' theme and tell of a lady bird wearing ' A red dress with polka dots.'
Rainbow Coloured Dragonfly: A song about a dragonfly, it's colours and movements

Rainbow Coloured Dragonfly: A song about a dragonfly, it's colours and movements

(0)
A revised version of a short song written in the 90's for a nursery class. I have included more verses exploring the amazing variety of colours found in different species of dragonflies and given the children the opportunity to 'Dance now like dragonflies do,' in the chorus. As your children accompany the song with instruments observe how they pick out the complex rhythms of 6/8 time.
Five Fat Bumble Bees: A Mini Beast Song
sallykeesallykee

Five Fat Bumble Bees: A Mini Beast Song

(0)
A busy bumble bee song where children learn to count backwards from 5, simple subtraction skills and practise vocal and listening skills whilst having great fun in the chorus moving in time to the music, buzzing and flapping like bumble bees. Why not listen to 'Flight of the Bumble Bee' by Rimsky Korsakov and encourage the children to select instruments to create their own 'Bumble Bee music? A great addition to a topic on Mini-Beasts
Snowman Mate Evaporates: A fun song to add to enhance a winter topic

Snowman Mate Evaporates: A fun song to add to enhance a winter topic

(0)
A sweet song about an evaporating snowman introducing a touch of science into the proceedings! Children will love the humour in the song as the snowman's eyes pop out and his ears disappear but hopefully the children will not get too sad as the last line of the song says 'But we will build another snow mate next cold and snowy day!' Why not create compositions inspired by this exploring diminuendo? Working in groups each child could play their instruments altogether then gradually drop out to paint a musical picture of the snowman disappearing as their music gets quieter and quieter. The possibilities for other activities inspired by this song are endless making it a good addition to your Primary School School Music Resources.
Ice Skating and Hot Chocolate: A song for a Winter Topic
sallykeesallykee

Ice Skating and Hot Chocolate: A song for a Winter Topic

(0)
A pretty song in 3/4 time about two great winter treats for lucky children. Pop up Ice Rinks mean that many more children these days can experience the thrills of ice skating and of course a nice warm Hot Chocolate Drink afterwards. The adjectives in the chorus will provide fun for the children as they try to emulate the sound of the words and the flow of the music lends itself to perhaps creating a class dance and original pieces of music depicting skating in 3/4 time. Have fun with this great Priamry School Music Resource.
Easter Eggs Bring Lots of Fun: A fun song about Easter Eggs and other signs of Spring

Easter Eggs Bring Lots of Fun: A fun song about Easter Eggs and other signs of Spring

(0)
A fun Easter/Spring song where the lyrics tell of painting eggs then rolling them down a hill and having an Easter Egg treasure hunt in the garden but then reveal that our favourite traditional Easter treat are chocolate eggs wrapped in foil! The chorus also discusses other seasonal signs of spring. Why not create a dance to accompany the chorus to practise the children's rhythmic skills and use instruments to accompany the verse. Whatever you do I hope you enjoy this song and it kick starts some other Spring activities.
